Please consider taking the Ancestry DNA test. You do not need to be an Ancestry member to do so. After you return the test kit, Ancestry will send you an email with
a link to the list of your matches, (probably thousands of names), and some of these matches will probably have Tyrone Irish roots like yourself. Even if their name is not Moyna, you will have common ancestors.
The test kit is usually half price during the holidays.
We hope that through the magic of DNA it may be possible to get some new answers, and see new connections among these families that are unknown due to the lack of records.
This website covers only Moynas in the 1800s. Information for the 1900s is much easier to find due to the available census and family trees posted on genealogical websites, and is beyond our scope.
We will only update this website if there are additional Moynas or dates for the 1800s from a specific location in Co.Tyrone, or if a new relationship between these families is found.
UPDATE 2023: Research didn't stop :-) We have added new townlands with family trees and have many new DNA matches, but finding the common ancestor in the early 1800s remains elusive.
Please have your DNA test done and help us look a bit farther into our past.
